the pardoners tale essay

i feel like the message of the pardoners tale was that there is much more than one way death can come to you in the pardoners tale, deaths approach was a pile of coins, a beautiful pile of treasure, money at the start of the tale the men all decided to spilt up the coins amongest each other but when the youngest brother ran into the town to get the wine and bread greed started to fill his heart and he ploted to buy some poison to kill the other 2 men so that he could keep all of the money for himself but what he dint know was that the other 2 at that same time were also ploting to kill the younger man so that they could both spilt the money so that they would both get more and wouldent have to share it with the younger brother, when the younger brother came back to the hill the 2 men killed him and then sat down to have a drink of the wine that the younger man had poisened and then they droped dead and at the end of the story greed had killed the men, i belive that the message was that death lurks in every shadow and can take a man without warning and i agree with that message because its true.

the wife of baths tale

the main moral of the story of the wife of baths tale would be some where along the lines of dont judge by appearnce or love some one no matter what they are or what they become you should always love them the same, it seemed like thoughout the entire tale the old hag was simply testing the knight seeing how noble he was and when he finnaly submited and said he would love her no matter what, thats when she transformed into a beautiful young girl who he fell in love with, it was like a reward for him nobleness, at first in the story he had no choice but to do as the old hag said for she had the awnser he needed and he was desperate so he concided and submitted to the old hag indeed she gave him the awnser that he sought but in return the price for the knowlege he needed to live was to take the old hag as his wife and he had but no choice to do as she wished at first he weeped and greifed at having an old wife but towards the end of the story once he said that he would love her no matter how old or poor, after they kissed she became this beautiful young girl and they lived happily ever after

canterbury tales prereading activity

is always true-5
is sometimes true-4
may be true or false-1
is sometimes false-3
is always false 2

greed is the root of all evil- yes i agree that greed is the root of all evil i mean a perfect example is politics i mean just look at it the whole reason politics has become as corrupt as it has is because of money

power corrupts everyone who has it- i cant really agree with that because there have been some who have had power and never fallen to corruption

dreams are often predictors of the future- i cant agree with that because i belive that dreams are dreams because its something youll most likely never have so you dream of it instead.

no one understands morality better than the immoral- yes i can i agree with that because it takes one to know one

the more educated you are the better person you are- no i cant agree with that at least personality wise as a person anyways educated just means your smart thats all it is it dosent determine if you have a good heart and a good head on your shoulders

society must be divided into classes in order to function properly- not really i mean if so then why have we been striving for equality all this time?

turning the other cheek is the best response to cruelty- maybe in some cases but sometimes if you can get back without burdening yourself sometimes thats the best way to go

when an agreement is made it must be honnored no matter what- yea thats what i gentlemen would do but most people aint very gentlemenly these days

women should have all the power in a relationship- well that brings us back to equality on that one i mean why should one have all control i thought a realtionship was an effort on both parts
